On your Initial Examination we tested to see how much subluxation was present in your spinal cord and the effect these subluxations were having on your overall function.

We tested 3 levels to see the effect these subluxations were having on your body. We tested;

  1. Nerves: testing to see how much of the pathways that transmit information from your brain to your body were being affected.
  2. Joints/Ligaments: how many of the spinal joints were ‘misaligned’ creating restriction to spinal movement
  3. Muscles: how many muscles were tight in their resting state. Remember muscles need to be pliable so that they can move joints as well as protect them from injury

We also placed you into 1 of 3 categories.

Category 1

This it the most stable version of abnormal. Here subluxation has affected the midline structures as well as the cranial joints.
Most people in category 1 can stay here for years with intermittant issues over a lifetime.

Category 2

This is a lot more troublesome than category 1. It the subluxations seen at category 1 get worse and cause further dysfunction, it ends up at category 2. Subluxations here have now affected midline structures as well as lateral structures ie. shoulders, hips, knees, jaw.

Here people have a lot more issues that come and go much more frequently. Category 2 can be described as an unstable state.

Category 3

This category is the worst of the all 3. Here the subluxations have accumulated to a point where all 3 levels described above has now reached it’s maximum state of compensation. Subluxations here have affected both midline and lateral structures and now is causes discs to become injured even in your resting state.
Here people present with disc bulges, acute pain, limping and sciatica. We need to restore function and decrease the subluxations as quickly as possible.

What Do Your Adjustments Do?

Chiropractic adjustments are more than just cracking or popping a joint. Think of it like a tuning a piano. What we want to do is stimulate the nerve complexes in your spine that is not performing at it’s peak and optimal.

The goal of each adjustment is to stimulate under-performing nerve complexes inside your spine so that you walk out with 100% nerve expression.

Dr Heidi Haarvik’s work into understanding the effects of what chiropractic adjustments do, found that chiropractic adjustments are unlike any other therapy available. The reason why is because it stimulates nerves in the spine, along the nerves that travel to each organ, muscle or joint and more excitingly, your brain!

So, think of your adjustments as waking up your brain as well as helping repairing joints recover faster while increasing the overall flexibility of your body. Remember the fastest way to get toward a pain free state is to move a joint so there is increased blood flow as well as restore nerve function so your body can protect it while it’s healing so it doesn’t relapse.

Lastly, remember that each adjustment builds on the previous. Each appointment will move you closer to optimal overall nerve function, which is the place where we want to be to ensure you feel your absolute best. So consistency is key. Keep up your schedule and try make up and adjustments missed to ensure we get to our goal in the projected time frame.
