Back comes in many forms. The most common is chronic back pain. 1 in 6 Australians are experiencing the physical and psychological effects of chronic back pain. Of the estimated 3.7 million people suffering from chronic back problems, many are also likely to suffer from poor quality of life and are unable to engage in an active, healthy life (1)
Around 70-90% of Australians will suffer from lower back pain at one point of their lives. It’s no surprise it’s fast becoming a major public health concern (1). In fact the burden of low back pain is ranked as No.1 in Australia and 6th in the world (2).
Our spines are designed to be flexible, strong and durable. It’s the core of how we move and tackle life. Back pain can be caused be lifestyle stresses such as poor posture, inactivity, repetitive work strains or awkward positions. Or trauma such as car accidents, falls, childhood slips and falls or workplace accidents. These injuries affect the original design for our spines and results in our spines that don’t move properly, has injury and inflammation. And left uncorrected can progressively get worse even in the absence of pain.
Chiropractic is effective in treating low back pain and is considered more beneficial than physical therapy (3,4) and significantly more effective than medical treatment for low back pain (5). It even has been shown to have the highest patient satisfaction ratings! (6).In fact an article published in the Journal of American Medical Association suggested patients try chiropractic as a form of conservative treatment to surgery (7).
Back pain is common and annoying, and chiropractic care offers real solutions. As neuro-musculoskeletal experts, chiropractors are well suited to treating and managing acute and chronic back pain. So put yourself in trusted hands to help get you back to getting on with life.

How to Treat It
Chronic back pain responds exceptionally well to chiropractic treatment. We first assess to see where the source of pain is stemming from and create a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific situation.
Chiropractic adjustments improve the function of nerves that supply muscles, ligaments and surrounding tissues. By firstly improving this we can restore function to your muscles and relieve them of the need to spasm. We also can then allow your brain to better control and regulate the area while its moving to prevent further re-injury and allow the site of injury to remain stable while its healing. This alone is shown to speed up healing times as well as prevent further episodes from occurring.
We also provide you with strategies to improve the repair process. We help you with diet modifications to reduce inflammation and improve tissue repair, an exercise program to help stabilise and strengthen the area as well as strategies to better adapt your work and play conditions to prevent relapses and improve healing time.Learn About Our Free Initial Consultation →
Is the spine the source of all back pain?
Most back pain comes from a musculoskeletal problem in which your spine is directly responsible. However, there are instances when back pain isn’t related to a musculoskeletal issue and could be a referral of pain from elsewhere. Your chiropractor is qualified to assess your body and make a determinant of where the source is from. If you are not the in the right place, we won’t waste your time of money, and will get you to the person who can help the best.
What else can I do to help my back pain?
As part of your care, we ensure that your care is 3 dimensional. Not only do we provide the best, up to date and effective chiropractic treatment but we also provide you with a diet plan to help you body repair. You also get an exercise program to help you take control of your condition and prevent it from coming back. As well as advice of strategies to better adapt your work and play conditions to prevent relapses and improve healing time.
I think my problem is muscular, can chiropractic help?
Of course! Your nerves that exit from your spine connect to many areas including muscles. When nerves are irritated at the spine, there is spasm and tightening of the muscles that are connected to those nerves. Many people find that once they get adjusted and the nerves are functioning well, the muscles naturally relax. We use soft tissue techniques to further address the muscles and also have a local referral network if further work is needed.
